Candid photography is the difference between a wedding album that looks like your wedding and one that looks like a catalogue. Our candid specialist works the crowd all day: the grandmother watching the phere, the cousins who have not met in years, the ten seconds before the vidai when nobody is performing.
Every Shotnama wedding has someone assigned to candid work exclusively, which is only possible because we field four to seven shooters rather than two.

What is candid wedding photography?
Documentary coverage. The photographer moves through the wedding and photographs what happens rather than arranging it. No instructions to smile, no staged setups, no interrupting a ritual for a better angle.
Will you direct us at all?
Only for the portrait sessions and family groups, where direction is necessary. Through the functions themselves we stay out of the way.
Is candid better than traditional?
Neither is better. Candid gives you the honest photographs, traditional gives you the ones your family will frame. We shoot both at every wedding.
How do you handle guests who do not want to be photographed?
We read the room and work around them. If someone tells us directly, that is the end of it.
Do you use flash during the ceremony?
Sparingly. Some ceremonies and venues restrict it, and a mandap at night usually needs some light to hold detail. We agree the approach with you and the priest beforehand.
